Basset Pups From Roy

The Lowest Priced Basset Pups On The Internet

It's easy to buy a pup from Roy's Bassets. The Basset Hound is one of the best dogs available for a family to love. They are extremely tolerant and love everyone in the family equally. They are a very gentle, sweet, loyal and affectionate breed. They get along well with other pets of various species. They are not an aggressive watchdog but will give a deep bark as a warning. Otherwise, they will accept visitors with a sniff and return to a favorite corner. The Basset Hound is a versatile pet who will play with children, make a skilled hunter, and sit by their owner's side during quiet times.

We have from 6 to 12 litters of Basset pups a year. All basset puppies are of high pet quality and are registered, with AKC (American Kennel Club). A pedigree certificate (four generations), health record, and a guarantee, guaranteed to be free of genetic conditions, comes with each pup.

PRICE; Male & Females are $400.00, or as posted on the pup. Add shipping if you are not picking the pup up yourself. Prices are subject to change any time with out notice.

Payment; I only except cash when picking a pup up, no checks. You can also use Pay Pal on the puppy page. But please read the note first before using Pay Pal. My bank will not accept money orders or cashiers checks for cash or deposit, due to all the fraud and coping going on out there today. Personal checks are accepted; Make personal checks payable to Peggy L Vaughan. (Send to; Roy's Bassets 7560 New Liberty Rd Jacksonville, AL 36265-7179). If a personnel check is used, there's a ten day grace period required, before pick up, shipping or delivery.

If you pay for a pup, and decide you do not want it prior to shipping or pick up; There will be a earnest fee of $80.00, for holding the pup for you. If shipping charges were included in the payment they are refundable. If there is a refund due for any reason, there will also be a fee of $80.00 for re-registering and other expenses.

Veterinarian Checked; All pups that are shipped will be checked by veterinarian, Tim W. Lusk D.V.M. and shipped with a health certificate.

Pups are wormed three times, at 2, 4, and 6 weeks. I use Nemex, I get my Nemex from my veterinarian, not a pet store. Pups are inoculated at 5, 7, and 9wks old with pro-guard/5 vaccines. They should have a check up by a veterinarian as soon as possible, at 12 weeks old a rabies vaccine is required in most parts of the country, rabies should be given according to local law by your veterinarian.

Pup Registration; All of my bassets are dual registered, with UKC (Universal Kennel Club International) and AKC (American Kennel Club).

American Kennel Club

AKC charges a correction fee of $50.00 for the following items, number and sex of the puppies in a litter, sire, dam, whelp date, ownership of the litter and a number of other items. They will not correct nothing for you till you send them $50 bucks. Any correction that  has to be made on any registration, whether its an over site on my part, yours or akc's you will have to pay the akc fee of $50.00 for the correction. I will not pay it. So be sure you double check the registration before mailing it.

BREEDING; There are no restrictions on the pup you purchase from Roy's Bassets or forms. (see limited registration below & forms) But I must inform you about breeding your pup. New owners frequently ask, "Shall I breed my dog?" The answer is complicated, for there is much to consider. Breeding is not a casual undertaking. All breeds have genetic defects which can be passed along from parent to pup. The Basset is no exception. Responsible knowledgeable breeders know these problems and strive to avoid them when selecting mates. Breeding is a commitment. You must have a good understanding of the breed standard and what health problems exist. You must be prepared to spend considerable time, effort and money. There is an old wives tale about breeding your dog one time. Its just that an Old Wives tale. You will have a healthier, happier pet if he or she is neutered or spayed. Your pet's disposition will not change adversely with alteration. In fact, you will have a more polite house pet who will not be apt to wander or leave his mark on your couch or cabinets if neutered. And having a litter is in no way beneficial to a female; in fact, it can lead to problems, even death. It is fact that spayed bitches often live longer, (two years longer) and have fewer health problems than un spayed females. If you do breed one must consider the financial resources for shots, food and unfortunate medical emergencies. A facilities to keep and socialize puppies and to take them back, if the situation demands. I but no restrictions on any pup you buy from my kennel unless the pup has a problem, and you will be informed of that problem before buying the pup. The choice to breed is your choice.

VIII Reasons To Buy A Basset From Roy's Bassets

1. The Lowest Prices: I sell pups for hundreds of dollars below what other breeders sale them for. The average price for a basset pup from the other guy usually starts at $600 and I've seen them as high as 1200 dollars. Don't forget the shipping & handling added to this price. I can sell and ship you a pet quality basset pup for less than his starting price. I get a lot of email asking why I sell Bassets at such a low price. Well due to my geographic location, bassets sell for less than in most locations. The quality of my bassets has nothing to do with the price. Some could even be shown, if that's your thing.

2. No Limited Registration; Other breeders will sell you a pup with limited registering, which means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by the dog are eligible for registration. Which means if you elect to breed your basset at a later date, you cannot register any pups from your bassets. Dogs with Limited Registration may not be entered in breed competition at Dog Shows but may compete in all other AKC events. This is their way of keeping the price up, on yes they will sell you a pup with full registration, if you pay them 200 dollars, more. Do you really want to pay that much more for a check mark on a form?

3. Show Bassets; I don't show my bassets. I don't up root my bassets from their domain and carry them all over the country, just so I can show and keep the price up, or to pay for my food and hotel bills. I do not sell show bassets, only pet quality pups. Also you do not have to wait, three or six months so I can see if, it's going to have show potential. I don't show so they are available for delivery as soon as they are, old enough to leave their Mom. All of my bassets, confirm with AKC standards and The Basset Hound Club of America, Inc. I do not believe, in inbreeding, just to get a desired look.

4. No Requirement for Spay or Neuter; I do not require you to spay or neuter your basset. Some will not sell you a basset unless you sign an agreement to spay or neuter it. You are the one paying for it, shouldn't you get to make that decision, on you're on. I believe, every American can decide for him self, what he wants, and what's best for his pet and family. That's the reason, I place no restrictions on a pup, you buy from Roy's Bassets. It should be your choice to spay or neuter, not mine, or any other breeder.

5. No Forms; There are no investigations in to your personal life, or forms to fill out, asking personal questions about your life.. You don't fill out a form when you buy a goldfish, from Wal-Mart, or any other pet, goat, duck, rabbit, horse, so why should you be bugged with forms when buying a puppy.

6. Only Healthy Bassets; All pups shipped, are check by a veterinarian. I will only sell healthy bassets. If I have a basset with a problem, Its given to someone, that will give it a good home.

7. Guaranteed A Home; Ever pup sold is Guarantee a home, for life at Roy's Bassets. If you should ever have a problem, hardship, or just grow tired of your basset, you may return it. I will find it a new home or keep it my self.. We take care of our own.

8. Last, but not least; You, and anyone else can visit my Kennel any time, day or night. My door is always open for anyone, who wishes to visit. My address is 7560 New Liberty Rd.
